Class 4 galvanised bugle head hex drive batten screws are heavy-duty fasteners primarily used for structural timber applications like decking, fencing, and pergolas, offering superior corrosion resistance for outdoor and treated timbers.

Key Features & Specifications
Corrosion Resistance: These screws feature a Class 4 galvanised coating (e.g., Climashield Class 4 coating by Buildex), which provides outstanding resistance to corrosion, suitable for harsh outdoor and coastal environments.
Head Type: They have a bugle head design which is self-embedding and tapers out to compress the timber rather than cutting into it, ensuring a clean, flush finish and minimizing timber splitting. Nibs under the head further assist with countersinking.
Drive Type: The screws use an internal 5mm hex drive system, which provides superior grip and high torque transfer, making them suitable for use with impact drivers and standard power drills. A driver bit is often included in the pack.
Point Type: Most feature a sharp Type 17 self-drilling point, which allows for easy penetration into various timber types (softwood and hardwood, including H3 and H4 treated pine) without the need for pre-drilling.
Material: They are made from hardened carbon steel (e.g., SAE 1022) for durability and strength.
Dimensions: Common sizes include 14G (gauge/diameter, approximately 6.3 mm) with lengths varying from 50mm to 200mm.
