SPRING WASHER ZINC METRIC

Zinc spring washers are fasteners used as a locking device to help prevent nuts and bolts from loosening, and the zinc coating provides moderate corrosion resistance for indoor use. They are made from mild steel with a zinc-plated finish. 

Sizes are broken down into Bolt size (fitting internal diameter) x width of washer x thickness of washer.

Function: They are designed with a split, helical shape that compresses under load, creating spring force and friction to resist anti-clockwise rotation caused by vibrations, movement, or thermal cycling.

Material and Finish: Engineered from durable mild steel and finished with a thin layer of zinc applied by electroplating or mechanically.

Corrosion Resistance: The zinc plating offers moderate protection against rust and corrosion, making them suitable for internal use and areas not subjected to direct weather. For outdoor or wet environments, a hot-dip galvanised finish is a more suitable option.

Applications: Commonly used in automotive, machinery, construction, and general engineering applications where maintaining bolt tension is crucial.

Installation: For optimal performance, the spring washer should be installed directly under the nut. If used with a flat washer, the spring washer must be in contact with the nut, not the assembly surface.
