UNC UNF PLAIN HEX NUT

A Plain Hex Nut is a standard six-sided fastener with a "plain" (uncoated) finish, often referred to in the industry as a "black" finish. These nuts are identified by their thread type: UNC (Unified National Coarse) or UNF (Unified National Fine).

Key Differences: UNC vs. UNF
The primary difference is the Threads Per Inch (TPI). UNC has fewer, larger threads, while UNF has more, finer threads for the same diameter. 

UNC (Coarse Thread):
Best For: General construction, wood, soft metals (like aluminium), and applications requiring fast assembly.
Pros: Less likely to cross-thread, more tolerant of dirt or damage, and easier to install.
Cons: Lower resistance to loosening from vibration compared to fine threads.

UNF (Fine Thread):
Best For: Automotive, aerospace, and precision machinery where space is limited or vibration is high.
Pros: Higher tensile strength, better vibration resistance, and allows for finer tension adjustments.
Cons: More susceptible to damage from cross-threading or over-tightening; requires cleaner threads for assembly.
